Johannes Leonardus Terwen was a Dutch writer. He wrote several books on the history and topography of the Netherlands, of which Het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden is one of the most important.
This fine 1858 engraving was published in the collection Het Koningrijk der Nederlanden by J.L. Terwen and engraved by Johann Gabriel Friedrich Poppel after a drawing by William Cooke.
