Raoul Duffy (1877-1953)
Deux femmes (1930)
Category:

Raoul Duffy was a French Fauvist (expressive technique with bright colors) painter and designer. His work often depicts cheerful scenes of French life with loose lines and bright colors.

Drypoint etching from 1930. Dufy created this etching around 1930, commissioned by the famous art dealer and publisher Ambroise Vollard. It was intended for a portfolio of work by modern masters such as Matisse and Rouault. Although proofs exist, the work was never published in a large, formal edition, contributing to its rarity.
